Nick is the Director & Financial Planner of Ivanhoe Financial Planning and has over 14 years’ experience in the Financial Services profession, gaining extensive knowledge during that time working directly with private individuals, business owners, trusts as well as charities. His role is to work with clients to organise their finances so they have the best chance of meeting their goals.
“Attention to detail”, “good listening skills” and “great empathy” are personal characteristics highlighted by his clients. He is very passionate about financial planning as a profession and believes that Financial Planning is a detailed, comprehensive process that requires an individual who has proven experience and skill in the process itself, whilst keeping things simple.
By working with Nick you can be confident that you will benefit from your financial affairs being organised into a sensible long term plan with regular, structured progress meetings to keep you on track and to make sure your plan continues to meet its objectives.
“Most clients I meet want to feel in control of their lives and I see my role as empowering them to make smart decisions about their money. Financial Planning is not just about having the all the answers, it’s about asking the right questions. The strongest client relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and really listening to each other. These are the kind of relationships that are enjoyable and can last a lifetime.”
Nick is happily married to Amy, and they have a young daughter Lily. Away from the business, he enjoys triathlon and running (27 marathons and counting) watching Sheffield Wednesday, walking his Patterdale Terrier Lola, and spending time with family and friends.
A 3 x Arab Triathlon Champion, Lawrence has been a professional triathlete since 2010 with his career culminating in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro when he became only the 2nd Arab triathlete in history to compete at an Olympic Games.
He joined Ivanhoe Financial Planning as he transitions into a new career outside of sport and is expanding his financial knowledge further by working towards his Diploma in Financial Planning with the Chartered Institute of Insurers.
“I see a lot of parallels between the discipline it takes to compete as a professional sportsman to ‘live the dream’, and that needed to create the financial future you desire. Both require a sound strategy, tangible goals and a real focus on what’s important. I’m enjoying making a contribution to our clients in achieving their aspirations however big or small.”
Aside from business and sport, Lawrence is a self-confessed foodie and loves to travel – something that triathlon has allowed him to do for the last few years. As a high profile Arab sportsman, he works hard to actively encourage triathlon in that region, and looks forward to seeing more Arab athletes emulate his sporting success.
